A lot of people, myself included, have been looking forward to WordPress 2.5 being released today. However, as Roger points out, the odds of that happening are looking pretty low.
If you look at their trac for version 2.5, they’re only 56% done. I can’t imagine they’d release it with 417 active tickets, so it sure looks like we’ll be waiting a little while longer for this release.
The trac for version 2.3.4 is only about half done as well, but it has a total of just 9 tickets, whereas version 2.5 has a total of 952. Despite that, and barring a major security problem, I would still expect to see 2.5 get here first. The question of “when?” is anyone’s guess.

That was today? I’m not entirely looking forward to it, since I just got my theme and plugins to play nicely with the current version. I’m not sure if they’ll work with 2.5, or worse, if I’ll need to upgrade all my plugins and then troubleshoot all over again.

It was supposed to be today (as of last week), but I guess not. I don’t know if they’ll announce a new date or not.
That being said, I’m not sure I would have upgraded right away either, for the same reasons as you.
Only time will tell.
Good observation! They’re 4 hours late as of now, so it’s delayed already then.
Back to waiting I guess.
