Bad stuff from the China House in Marietta

by mickey on May 19, 2008

We had a fun time getting dinner tonight.  We ordered a couple of meals from “China House” (about 2 miles away from our house) at around 6:00.  We were told “under 45 minutes”.  45 minutes would have been kind of late for us, but we figured it’d be alright.  At 6:50, we gave them a call to see where the food was.

“The driver is on the way to your house, but rush hour traffic is bad.”  What?  Less than one mile up East Piedmont Road is “rush hour”.  C’mon!

Still, we waited.  At about 7:05 we called again, this time to cancel.  He assured us that the driver was almost there, but we canceled anyhow.  No apologies, nothing.  Quite a bit of silence on their end, which was quite odd.

Even more interesting was at about 7:20 (after Kel had already made some pancakes for dinner – score!), the driver called to make sure he had the right address.  Ha!  He seemed quite put off that we had canceled the order a while ago.

Needless to say, we won’t be calling them again anytime soon.

Now I remember why I haven’t been back to this place! I lived about 1 mile and half down Roswell Rd and called this place for delivery. I called them 3 times before they finally arrived and when they got there, they had forgotten a box of rice so he had to go back to the location and get some and come back to our place. My boyfriend and I were furious that we had to wait yet again for food from this horrid place….we stuck our other food in the oven and when the other rice finally arrived, we ate it wasn’t even good–IT WAS COLD….Thank Goodness I read this review before I hauled tail over there after work for take-out…I think I will hit up Empress of China II on Johnson Ferry Road–it’s the best Chinese place in Cobb County!

It’s kind of a shame, because they used to be pretty good. I think we’re too far away for Empress II to deliver (we’re on the other side of China House, past the YMCA), but I’ve eaten there before — they’re pretty solid. Of course, that same shopping center also has Fuji Hana and ABC, and I LOVE both of those. :)
