We’ve already seen bits of Google+ in the main Google search results (like the “+1” buttons), but now a bigger piece is in place. For those that have set it up correctly, Google will show how many people have the author in their circles, thereby helping give (or remove) credibility to that particular item. So how can you add this to your articles? It’s just a few steps:
- Put a link on your webpage to your Google Profile. the link must include “?rel=author”, and the anchor text the link must begin or end with a “+”.
- Complete this form so Google can check your profile and try to verify that information.
- It would also be wise to edit the “Contributor to” section of the “About” tab on your Google+ profile to link back to the site. Some places say that step is required, other don’t, but it’d be wise to do in any case.
