I’ve heard a few times that video does very well on LinkedIn, because their algorithm pushes it pretty hard. This podcast shows that it’s true, and I have some basic stats to back it up.

A few months ago, I was listening to the Marketing School podcast (which is excellent, by the way), and they mentioned that video content performs very well on LinkedIn. Not sharing YouTube videos on there, but actually uploading videos to your status updates.
Many of you know I’ve been using Wavve (spelled wavve.co) to help promote this podcast. If you’re listening on LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter or Facebook, you’re seeing that right now.
Because those are actual videos being uploaded, I don’t have a central source for stats on the podcast; I need to go to each platform and add them up by hand. I just did that for our past three episodes and the numbers are pretty interesting.
Our actual official podcast downloads are around 20 per episode, which is rather low. On YouTube, they’re viewed roughly 4 times each. On Twitter, that number goes up to 12 times per episode. On Instagram it’s 59 and on LinkedIn it’s 119! All told, that “20 downloads per episode” is actually a little over 200 per, which is pretty solid.
So, two things for you to take away. First, if you have a podcast I encourage you to check out wavve and extend your reach. Second, if you have any kind of video content, I encourage you to post it on LinkedIn and see how it does for you. Your results will vary, but it could be surprising.
