You have the power that your distant ancestors had

It’s interesting how some things can revert back to how they used to be.

With computers, we used to have terminals hooked up to mainframes, then we had personal machines where we did everything ourselves, and now we’re essentially hooked up to mainframes again (with “the cloud”).

With mobile phones, they got smaller and smaller for years, but for the last decade they’ve been getting bigger and bigger.

This can happen on a wider scale as well, in a way I hadn’t thought of before. From “The Almanack of Naval Ravikant“:

“Humans evolved as hunters and gatherers where we all worked for ourselves. It’s only at the beginning of agriculture we became more hierarchical. The Industrial Revolution and factories made us extremely hierarchical because one individual couldn’t necessarily own or build a factory, but now, thanks to the internet, we’re going back to an age where more and more people can work for themselves.”

It’s like I shared earlier this year when I talked about how we control the means of production.

That’s not to say you can’t get a great job working for someone else, but simply that it’s a choice. For much of recent history, essentially your only choice was to go to school and then get a job for the next 40 years.

That may still be a great path for you, but it’s not the only one you have. Freedom is powerful.
