Just pick up the trash

A little over a year ago, we switched companies that handle our weekly trash pick-up. The previous company simply wasn’t consistent; we’d often get an email on the afternoon of the pick-up day that essentially said “Sorry, but we’re not going to be able to make it today. See you next week!“. Here is a screenshot of just some of the delays we saw from them:

It became more than we cared to deal with, so we switched to Trash Taxi. It’s been amazing, as they’ve not missed a single pick-up. That’s my bar for “amazing” with a trash company: simply doing their job.

At the Cobb Chamber golf tournament last week I happened to be paired with one of the founders of Trash Taxi, so we had some interesting conversations over the course of the day. He said that he stresses one thing to his team: “just pick up the trash”. Sometimes that means he needs to hop on a truck to help when people are out, and he does whatever it takes to get the trash picked up on time.

Their website is fine (it could use some messaging work, but that’s not the point here), their billing system is kind of a pain, and their prices (while very fair) aren’t the lowest. However, every Friday morning around 7am I hear them come through without fail, 80 times in a row so far.

They focus on their core service deliverable, and it’s serving them very well. Just pick up the trash.
