The dumbest clickbait

Like most people, I’m not a fan of clickbait. Using sneaky techniques to try to get people to click through to another site is such a silly thing, and thankfully it seems to be fading out.

However, I just saw the dumbest piece of clickbait ever.

I’ve been using the Galaxy Z Fold8 for a few months now, and I really like it! It’s a great phone. I’m not the biggest fan of the tweaks that Samsung adds to Android, but they tend to be relatively subtle. Even my complaint here is a subtle thing, but that doesn’t make it any more acceptable.

In my contacts app a few days ago I saw this:

It seems that Samsung has sort of lost the plot here. While I can understand why a company might try to use clickbait on social media, this just seems like a company that is using clickbait out of habit more than anything else.

There are no ads to show here, no money to made, no tracking data to be sold. I honestly can’t figure out why they’d do this other than simply bad habits. The goal of the contacts app is to surface useful information, not play silly games with users.

Be intentional with what you do.
