Every January first (for the past few years – 202020212022, 2023) I like to look at some numbers and stats from the previous year.

Content

This was once again a solid year with exactly 365 posts, and it was perhaps the easiest to keep going. It’s not “easy”, but it’s because a solid part of my routine.

My reading was down a bit this year, though, with only 54 books finished.

Analytics

Total pageviews on the site nearly tripled to 170,167, though that’s still not really my goal for doing this. As I mentioned last year, people consume a lot of my content via Medium and Substack, which is fantastic. I’m not looking to force people to the blog to read content and I’m happy for folks to read it wherever it might be.

Popular Posts

Here are the post popular posts from 2024. As with each year, many of them weren’t written in 2024 but these are what people read the most last year.

1 – The customer is always right in matters of taste
August 13, 2021 – 32,002 views
This post took the crown for the third straight year.

2 – Explain it to me like I’m five
March 15, 2021 – 8,899 views
It’s always good to try to get ideas distilled down to be as simple as possible, and this post keeps pulling in a good bit of traffic, coming in second place yet again.

3 – The hearing impaired scam
November 27, 2017 – 3,939 views
This one stayed in the third spot, and for a seven-year-old post it’s still hanging in quite strongly.

4 – Highlights from “The Road Back to You”
January 18, 2020 – 3,660 views
This post about the Enneagram is another year older and still attracts visitors. In fact, I reference this one from time to time to keep myself straight on the meanings of the various Enneagram types.

5 – A timeline of Louis Zamperini’s journey
January 8, 2011 – 2,836 views
This post from way back in 2011 resurfaced in the top five, as the popularity of Louis’ story (as told in the book and movie “Unbroken”) continues to attract interest.

2025

I have no plans to slow down, so let’s keep it rolling. If you have some great book suggestions for me to dig into this year, leave a comment and let me know!
