Search boxes are everywhere

There is a growing thought that traditional SEO (search engine optimization) is essentially dead. As Google continues to add more AI into their search results, the amount of traffic coming to websites from them will continue to fall.

However, that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t work to optimize for “search”, because search boxes are everywhere. I recently heard Jenny Munn share this idea a few weeks ago, and I’ve been chewing on it a lot lately.

People search on Google and Bing, sure. They also search on ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity. They also search on YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. They also search on Amazon and Walmart. They also search on your website and mine.

Search happens everywhere, and all of it matters.

We all know how to make changes to show up better in Google. What changes do you need to make to show up better in ChatGPT? On YouTube? On Instagram?

The days of traditional “SEO” might be numbered, but the ability to show up in search has never been more important, and making changes to stay optimized for everything is a neverending quest. What are you doing to make sure your business shows up when people are trying to find someone like you?
