The Sunday Summary: Consumption, reading, search, and clicks

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Here’s a bit about what I wrote, read and learned over the past week. I hope you find it helpful!

Blog posts from the past week

  • I don’t care what you consume. I care what you produce. “This is something I talk about all the time. I think sometimes we have a sick culture where people, especially on social media, they glorify consumption. It’s like, I don’t care what you consume. I care what you produce.”
  • My new favorite reading app – Paper2Audio. A fantastic app for immersive reading.
  • Would being upset help? “Just stop and ask yourself: Why do you have to let a long line at the coffee shop ruin your day? Why is traffic putting you in a bad mood?”
  • Search boxes are everywhere. Search happens everywhere, and all of it matters.
  • Trust is built in the space between clicks. If you’re doing any kind of marketing, clicks are important. You want people to click on your posts, click on your videos, and click on your website. However, the real magic happens between the clicks.
  • We need more investigation and less “owning”. “For canny operators, such a public affords new opportunities for corruption. Oligarchs attempting to shape policy to their advantage will benefit from the fact that few will have the attention span to track or challenge policies in dull, technical fields; what a majority now wants is not forensic investigation but a new video short “owning” the other tribe.”

Books that I’m reading

I read for a total of 2:33 last week with the following:

Tech Rec

Stealing the idea from my friends at the Tech Talk Y’all podcast, I’ll drop in some tech recommendation every week as well.

  • Apple Shortcuts: As a relatively new iPhone user (coming from many years of Android), I’m finding the Apple “Shortcuts” to be pretty helpful! I wrote about them a few weeks ago, and I’ve slightly adjusted my settings since then, but that post is still my favorite use of them.

I hope you found some value in this. If you ever have questions, ideas, or disagreements regarding anything I write, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
